A Celebration of Squash Excellence – Sept 2023: The curtains have come down on the much-anticipated Squash Inspire Professional Squash Tournament, and what a phenomenal event it has been! As players from around the globe descended upon our courts, they brought with them an unmatched energy, a fierce competitive spirit, and a display of squash that left us all spellbound.

Some of the Tournament Highlights:

  • Venue: The tournament was hosted at the Play Squash Academy, Columbia, MD, which features 7 Squash Courts, one of the courts is ALL GLASS EXHIBITION COURT.

  • Unparalleled Skill: The tournament showcased some breathtaking matches, each echoing the skill, strategy, and passion the players bring to the court.

  • Global Stage: Players from various countries battled for the title, reinforcing squash's global appeal and the immense talent pool it possesses.

  • Vibrant Atmosphere: The energy of the spectators, the roar of the crowd, and the intense focus on the court made for an electrifying atmosphere.

  • Champion: Tom Walsh (England) / • Runner-up: Edwin Clain / • Semi-Finalists: Jeremias Azana & Veer Chotrani

Special Moments: Upsets started in the 2nd Round when Veer Chotrani took out Ashab Irfan, seeded #4 in three straight games. His second victim was Maceo Levy in the quarterfinals (Maceo was seeded 6th). Nicolas Serna upset the seeding further by taking out Mohamed Nabil in 4 exceptional games, 3-1. The highlight of the tournament was #1 seed, Tom Walsh (from England); he displayed some commanding squash from the very first round, displaying master-class Squash and top-level sportsmanship.

Looking Ahead: The team at Play Squash Academy, including Kaleem Khan, Director at the Columbia, MD location, put together a great effort to make this event so successful. He noted, “as we wrap up this edition of the Squash Inspire Professional Squash Tournament, preparations are already underway for the next edition. Given the success and the buzz this tournament has generated, we are optimistic about the future and promise to come back with an even grander spectacle”.
